I tell you what ... I took a chance on this one. I made 2 previous purchases in the Winston collection: In both, the settings were gorgeous but the CZ stones were awful. I was hoping not to be disappointed again. Although the CZs in this ring show some signs of life, I think they could be much more sparkly (hence the 4*). That said, this ring is really growing on me. It's unique and the picture is not a good representation. Because the stones are so small, great sparkle doesn't matter as much as it might on other pieces. It's the design that takes center stage with this piece, not the stones.
To me, the ring looks like it came from an antique store, or from an estate sale, or was handed down by a great aunt. Perhaps a piece made in the 1920s or 1930s, reminiscent of art deco or art nouveau. I've really come to like it. It's substantial & noticeable without being gaudy or overdone. On top of that, it passes for a real piece.
I'm so glad I took a chance.
